Silk and the Menhir

Here is a little story about a trip to France, with Silk.

We had been talking about shooting over a weekend, because we both had a bit of spare time. One evening a week or so before I was thinking that I hadn’t seen my mum for ages, because she lives in Brittany, in Northern France. I thought that seeing as it was the most amazing area with beautiful locations perhaps Silk might like to combine her weekend and extend it by a couple of days and do our shooting in France, as it would also let me see my elderly mum. Luckily she thought it was a fun idea so off we went.

I actually didn’t let my mother know we were coming, so we just turned up knocking on the door and she actually came to the door, saw me through the window, decided she was seeing things and went back into her kitchen. Charming!

Anyway, the little town of Huelgoat is situated in a beautiful place that has an amazing stone forest, there are rocks as big as houses everywhere, have a google, its beautiful!

Just down the road from my mums house is the Menhir de Kerampeulven, which really is a fantastic sight to see. In the days of old women who wanted to conceive would take their clothes off and rub their bellies against the stone as it was thought it would help them conceive.

I thought it might be fun to recreate an image of this, and luckily we were not overlooked and there were no tourists about so we managed to get these beautiful images.

It was an amazing trip, for a number of reasons, and I absolutely adore these photographs.

Thanks for reading :)
