Urbex

So I really love to shoot in interesting locations, anything abandoned holds a fascination for me, and also many of my photographer and model friends. I often find the light in these places is quite beautiful, and its so much more fun than shooting in a studio.

Anyway, I took this image in a (once) abandoned incinerator near to me. The light here was beautifully diffused due to the whole side of the building being constructed with thick safety glass which was quite opaque. I absolutely love the soft effect it had on this photo. Sadly a few years later on kids had got in and smashed all the windows, so the magic was eventually lost. This was a really cold building to shoot at during the winter, as I did frequently.

I took this probably 6 or 7 years ago now but it remains one of my favourite images. The model is my beautiful friend Leah Axl, who is now enjoying life as a mum with a second little Axl due shortly. She is one of my oldest model friends and someone I always adored working with.

I remember for this shot we wanted to give her a little more height as she is a wee little thing. So we hid her suitcase underneath the dress and arranged it so that it couldn’t be seen and she stood on top of it. I think I'm going to put up a print of this shot in my new place, it brings back nice memories.

thanks for looking :)
